Geneva Irene Tompkins, 99, died Sunday, June 3, 2007, at home in Summerdale.

She spent her life as a homemaker and wonderful example to her family and friends. She was active in the United Methodist churches she belonged to: Crescent Ave. in Ft. Wayne and Lakewood in Ft. Pierce. She attended Marlow United Methodist Church.

A native of Ohio, she and her husband, Howard, lived and raised their family in Ft. Wayne, Ind. They retired to Ft. Pierce, Fla., where they spent over 30 years. She came to Alabama to live with her daughter in February 2005.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Tompkins, and a son, Lee Tompkins.

Survivors include a daughter, Ginny Harris of Summerdale; Don (Mary Jo) Tompkins of Grand Junction, Colo.; daughter-in-law, Gisela Tompkins, of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; grandchildren, Mark Harris and Cindy Sellers of West Virginia, and Heather McEntire of Utah; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters.

A memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 9, at Marlow United Methodit Church.

She will be interred with her husband at Barrancas National Cemetery.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Crescent Avenue United Methodist Church.
