Tommie Lee Walker, 90, of Montrose passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, July 13, 2013 after a brief illness.
Mr. Walker was born in Northport, Ala., and served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Tommie worked as a landscaper in the homebuilding industry in his later life. He loved dancing and all of his close and extended family.
Survivors include his sisters, Annie Walker of Gladwater, Texas, Alice Walker of Mabelton, Ga. and Mary Gambrell of Denver, Colo.; his brothers, Dennis Walker of Norfolk, Va., Savir Muhammad of Burkeville, Va. and J.T. Walker Jr. of Goodwater, Ala.; trusted friends, Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Niemeyer of Montrose; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 18, 2013 at The Way Community Church in Montrose, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will take place in Montrose Cemetery.
