William Almon Tolbert, 87, a native of Atmore and a resident of Bay Minette, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at his residence.
He was a deputy sheriff for 31 years with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department. He was also a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Octavia F. Tolbert; sister, Pauline Gorum; and two brothers, David Eugene Tolbert and James Buford Tolbert Sr.
Survivors include four children, Almon Wayne Tolbert of Pine Grove, William Russell Tolbert of Pace, Fla., Ruth Diane (Floyd) Kittrell of Daphne and Barry Kimbal Tolbert of Tampa, Fla.; three brothers, Ronald Tolbert of Arizona, J.W. Tolbert of Forsyth, Ga., and David C. Tolbert of Warner Robbins, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Almon Wayne Tolbert Jr., Terris T. Hadley, Hillary T. Tolbert, Sclott Randall Tolbert, Neal Tolbert, Wesley Tolbert and Clint Tolbert; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 24 at Norris Funeral home. A private graveside service will follow.
Pallbearers are Almon Wayne Tolbert Jr., Scott Randall Tolbert, Neal Tolbert, Wesley Tolbert, Clint Tolbert and Gayland Hadley.
