TNT Swimmers participate in Gulf Breeze meet

DAPHNE— Thirteen swimmers from TNT participated at the Richard Sanborn Invitational Swim Meet, held July 6-8 in Gulf Breeze, Fla.

Five swimmers from TNT achieved new qualifying times at the meet, represented the final opportunity for area swimmers to qualify for Southeastern Swimming’s 2007 Long Course Championships, held July 19-22 in Nashville.

Boyd Turnipseed, 12, of Spanish Fort was distinguished in the 50-meter butterfly and 50-meter backstroke, his first in the 11-12 boys age group.

Daniel Doucet, 13, of Daphne qualified for the championship meet in the 100 breastroke, which was a new TNT team record, and also the 200 breastroke in which he finished first place.

Gracey Kahn, 15, of Fairhope also made her southeastern “cut” in the 15-16 girls 100 backstroke.

Gracey, a rising sophomore at Bayside Academy, missed the qualifying time in the event by 0.9 seconds during the first day of the meet. She returned the second day and made the cut with an official time on the first 100-meter leg of the 200-meter backstroke event.

Lauren Kinsey, 12, of Daphne added the 50-meter butterfly to her list of six championship cuts. Lauren will also compete in the 50 backstroke, 100 backstroke, 50 freestyle, 200 freestyle, and 100 butterfly events.

Andrew Szydel, 9, of Fairhope added the 50-meter freestyle to his list of three championship events. Andrew will also swim the 50 backstroke and 50 breastroke at the meet in Nashville.

Patrick Parish, 8, of Fairhope highlighted TNT’s point-total effort at the meet by winning runner-up in the 8-and-under boys high-point competition. Patrick’s meet accounted for five new team records. He earned four medals.

•Daniel Doucet, 200 breast first, 100 breast second

•Lauren Kinsey, 100 back third, 50 back third

•Thomas Kinsey, 400 IM third

•Adele Mantiply, 100 back first, 400 IM second

•Patrick Parish, 50 back second, 50 free second, 50 fly second, 50 breast third

•Andrew Szydel, 100 back third, 50 free third

•Boyd Turnipseed, 50 fly second, 50 back third

TNT ribbon winners were:

•Simon Boles, 50 back fourth, 50 breast fifth, 200 IM seventh

•Alexander Daly, 50 free seventh, 50 back eighth

•Gracey Kahn, 100 back fifth, 200 back eighth

•Lauren Kinsey, 200 IM fifth, 100 free fifth, 50 fly sixth, 50 free eighth

•Thomas Kinsey, 200 back fifth, 200 breast eighth, 200 IM eighth

•Adele Mantiply, 400 free fourth, 200 back sixth, 200 IM seventh, 100 breast seventh

•Sarah Meehan, 50 back fifth, 50 free fifth, 50 breast sixth

•Patrick Parish, 200 free eighth

•Andrew Szydel, 50 fly fourth, 50 back fifth, 100 free seventh

•Ben Turnipseed, 100 breast fourth, 50 breast sixth, 200 free sixth, 100 back eighth

•Boyd Turnipseed, 50 free fourth, 100 fly fifth, 100 free sixth, 200 free seventh, 100 breast fifth.
