The AHSAA's volleyball playoffs are reaching their final stages, and a pair of Baldwin County programs are still alive in their hunt for state championships.
At the 5A level, Spanish Fort will make its third straight appearance in the state-title bout after the Lady Toros swept Southside in the quarterfinals and outlasted Mountain Brook, 3-1, in the semifinals Wednesday.
With the the team eyeing another addition to its trophy cabinet, Spanish Fort will battle Jasper, who swept both Gardendale and Austin, at 10 a.m. Thursday from the Birmingham Crossplex.
To reach this stage, the Lady Toros swept a trio of games on their way to finishing first at the South Super Regionals in Montgomery.
Meanwhile, Orange Beach's volleyball team mirrored its fellow Baldwin County squad, as the Lady Makos swept Moody in Wednesday's quarterfinals before taking down West Morgan, 3-1, in the afternoon's semifinals.
And just like Spanish Fort, Orange Beach will battle a team in Guntersville who swept both Headland and West Point to qualify for the final round. The Lady Makos' first serve is set for noon Thursday, also from the Birmingham Crossplex.
During its South Super Regional run, Orange Beach finished 9-3 across a dozen sets on its way to a first-place finish.
