Tina Powers’ art chosen for GulfTel Directory

GulfTel Communications and Gulf Publishing awarded a check for $1,000 to Fairhope artist Tina Reeves Powers after announcing that her acrylic painting, “The Pass at Orange Beach” would be featured on the cover of the GulfTel PhoneBook. This will be the first time in 78 years that a photograph was not used on the front cover.

Powers’ art will appear on the cover of more than 100,000 directories during the 2007-08 year. She said she loves painting pictures that evoke happy memories of time spent along the Gulf Coast.

Her paintings and giclée prints can be found at the Prosperous Pelican Gallery in Orange Beach.

Many of the entries that were submitted can be seen throughout the new directory. The new books will be arriving on doorstops in May.

The photo contest for the 2008 issue will begin in November. Look for contest rules in the 2007-08 issue of the PhoneBook. It will be located at the end of the white page section.
