Three Foley businesses were recognized Wednesday for their efforts to improve the appearance of their properties and contribute to the city’s overall appeal.

Blossman Gas on North McKenzie Street, Grounded Energy on West Myrtle Avenue and Centennial Bank on South McKenzie Street received the city’s annual Foley Beautification Awards.

Plaques recognizing the businesses as Foley Beautification Award winners were presented at each location Wednesday, Aug. 12.

The awards are selected by the Foley Revitalization and Beautification Advisory Board to recognize businesses and property owners that make an extra effort to enhance their properties and surrounding areas.

Mayor Ralph Hellmich said the awards showcase the contributions local businesses make to the community.

“Once a year, the Beautification Committee works with businesses that go above and beyond to beautify their business and their grounds, and to make things just better for not only themselves but all around them,” Hellmich said. “We appreciate that.”

Foley City Council also presented proclamations honoring the three businesses at a recent council meeting.

The annual awards are part of the city’s ongoing efforts to encourage businesses and property owners to invest in the appearance and vitality of Foley.
