Mackie Thomley, 74, a native of Perdido and a resident of Pensacola, Fla., died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007 at his residence.
He was a retired high school teacher with the Montgomery County School System and retired from the U.S. Army having served in Korea and Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen D. Green, Thomley of Pensacola; five children, Deborah T. Still of Prattville, Stephen M. Thomley and Teri T. Guy, both of Pensacola, Nicole A. Thomley and Derek Thomley, both of Greenville; three step-children, Justin Morse, Samantha Morse and David Morse; one sister, Mildred Brown of West Blocton; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 20 at the Pleasant Plains Pentecostal Holiness Church with pastors Gary Dopson and Thursia Long officiating. Burial followed at Bryars McGill Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the honor guard from Fort Rucker.
Active pallbearers were Brent Dempsey, Kyle Fralick, Rueben Guy, John Brown, Joseph Bagwell and Andy Boutwell.
