Thomas Daniel “Danny” Dorough, 60, a beloved father, brother and husband to Mary Lou Cooper Dorough for 40 years and son of Thomas Ivey and Carolyn Dorough, died Thursday, March 8, 2012, at Thomas Hospital. He was a resident of Stapleton for 40 years where he was a member of the Stapleton Church of God. He worked at Union Carbide and Alabama Dry Docks as a first-class welder and at Faulkner State Community College as a campus police officer. He also served in the National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Elizabeth Thomasine Dorough. He is survived by his wife, May Lou Cooper Dorough, Stapleton; his children, Carol Marie (Michael) Johnson, Daphne,, Kimberly Ann (Pete) Carnley, Fairhope, and Thomas Brenton (Jennifer) Dorough of Phillipsville; three sisters, Bobbie Dorough (Mike) Harvill, Crossroads, Pamela Dorough (the Rev. Randy) Byrd, Scobey, Miss., and Brenda Dorough (Keith) Grimes of Stapleton; six grandchildren, Mary Kateland Johnson, Ashleigh Johnson, Kennedy Carnley, Caroline Carnley, Bailey Dorough and Blake Dorough. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 11, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Revs. Randy Byrd, Randall Short and J.P. Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Colton Grimes, Woody Blair, Joshua Blair, Johnny Cooper, Todd Watson and Glen Cooper, Jr. Honorary pallbearer will be Percy Cooper.
