MOBILE, Alabama — Theodore Bobcats pitchers Garrett Waters and Troy Andrews combined for a 2-0 one-hit shutout against the Robertsdale Golden Bears on Saturday in the BayBears High School Classic at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Waters had two strikeouts and gave up just one hit in 5 2/3 innings to get the win for Theodore (4-0) and Andrews struck out three in 1 1/3 innings of relief to get the save. The Bobcats play in the Mary G. Montgomery tournament starting March 1.
For Robertsdale (3-1), Isaac Bradford struck out two and gave up two runs on three hits in five innings to take the loss. Patrick Kucera struck out three and gave up one hit in two innings of relief for the Bears, who host Spanish Fort on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The Bobcats broke through on offense in the top of the fourth on Andrews' sacrifice fly RBI. Peyton Jones drove in Theodore's second run on a single in the top of the sixth.
Tony Kucera singled for Robertsdale's only hit in the bottom of the second. The Bears loaded the bases on walks and errors twice in the second and again in the sixth, but failed to score.
