At its regular services Sunday morning, June 1, the Fairhope Unitarian Fellowship will present a short film, “The Story of Stuff,” with Annie Leonard narrating.
The film is in the form of simple line drawings, with Leonard talking about the many problems created for the earth’s environment and its people as a result of mining and forestry, production of goods, excessive consumption and creation of waste.
The film identifies the worldwide impact of a wasteful lifestyle, and the role corporations and government play in this environmental nightmare. Leonard suggests ways in which each of us can promote sustainability and justice.
Jean Lawrence, a member of the Fellowship’s Environmental Committee, will introduce the film and give a brief talk about it after it is shown. She will facilitate a discussion by those attending, hoping to identify ways they can become personally involved.
The Unitarian Fellowship meets each Sunday at 11 a.m. at 1150 Fairhope Ave., across from the Fairhope Satellite Courthouse.
