As National Volunteer Appreciation Week (April 13-21) came to a close, the Haven honored their volunteers with an appreciation luncheon at David’s Catfish House in Spanish Fort. The staff of the restaurant served their famous catfish or shrimp to the volunteers, while those present had a chance to make new friends or get re-acquainted with each other. Board Members Marilyn Moen and Page Sute welcomed the volunteers and praised them for their dedication and commitment to The Haven. Several volunteers were awarded pins in recognition of the hours they have given to the Haven. These volunteers included Linda Amburgey, Aimee Egbert, Katie Koster, Don Rooker, and Sandy Helmstadter. Randy Kelly, who helps with the Fantastic Felines Program by taking care of the Haven’s cats at Petsmart as well as helps at off-site adoptions and fundraisers, was honored as its Volunteer of the Quarter. Door prizes and a group photo rounded out the occasion. A special thanks to Jane Penton who, for the second year, offered her restaurant for the occasion and award-winning photographer Sherry Stimpson Frost, a member of the Eastern Shore Camera Club, who volunteered her talents to make wonderful memories for the Haven.
