Is there a cat or dog on your child's wish list this holiday season? Looking for a companion? The Haven for Animals is waiving adoptions fees for all animals for the entire month of November.

The "Adopt til You Drop" promotion is a huge savings to adoptive pet parents. Adoption of a dog typically costs $175 and $125 for a cat.

The Haven dog adoption package includes spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, rabies vaccination (if aged three months and up), microchip, flea, tick and heartworm preventative or treatment if needed, coupons from area business and more. The cat adoption package includes the same plus a feline leukemia test.

The goal of this no-fee adoption promotion is to open up much-needed kennel space and other limited resources at the shelter. There has been an unusually large number of homeless animals in the area this fall. The Haven, which is at full capacity, has many healthy, adoptable pets waiting for loving, permanent homes.

Unable to adopt a pet? Here is how you can help:

• Share the "Adopt til you Drop" promotion on your social media channels.
• Foster a healthy, adoptable dog for 14-21 days. The Haven will provide all the pet supplies and support.
• Donate to sponsor a kennel at a local boarding kennel for 14 days, $200 and up, for a Haven animal. Sponsoring will open up space at The Haven to save another dog who needs urgent care.

• Send an email to your friends asking them to help save homeless pets through The Haven.
