FAIRHOPE, Ala. — During the month of May, The Haven no-kill nonprofit animal shelter will join forces with Best Friends Animal Society to help find loving homes for more homeless pets during their “Back in Black” promotion.

The event helps increase awareness, as well as adoptions, of black cats and dogs. Often overlooked because of their less-than amazing coloring, black cats and dogs have shown that they are every bit as adorable and sweet as those of more “attractive” animals.

To celebrate and promote the beauty of these creatures, The Haven is lowering their adoption fees by $15 during May.

Therefore, the fee for a black dog will be $75 (usually $90), and for a black cat it will be $50 (usually $65), subject to an approved application. If you are looking for that next best friend, don’t stay in the dark. Come see the loving beauty of these creatures and you will get a great forever companion!
