The students at Foley Middle School played a game of Jeopardy on the last day of school. Students were asked questions about the items they learned over the year. The game was the idea of Mrs. Shoots, an English/Literature teacher. She created the game from a jeopardy kit she bought from the South Baldwin Chamber Foundation. She thought it would be a fun, educational way to review work with the kids. When she started the game, it was at the old campus, and it was for her class only. Little did she know, when she started the game, it would become so popular that the entire 7th grade would come to play and enjoy it at the end of every school year. Mr. Kimbrel, a 7th grade English/Literature teacher, said, “It is a end of school tradition.”
Kids are so full of spirit that now they have a cheer squad for the game. The squad is made up of boys who dress in cheerleader uniforms to add to the fun.
Mrs. Stallworth explained how the game went, “There are three tables. Each class has a team of twenty-- ten in each round. There are two normal rounds and then there is a final jeopardy round were whomever is left in the game, plays that round.” The three original teachers, Mrs. Shoots, Mr. Kimbrel and Mrs. Stallworth, are the only ones who have teams. The other teachers create the questions for the game. All answers do have to be in the form of a question. The winning team for this year’s game was Mrs. Stallworth’s class with a score of 33, 000 followed by Shoots’ team with a score of 19,200 and, last but not least, Mr. Kimbrel’s team with a score of 11,200. Good job to all who participated.
