Thanksgiving Giveback in Foley organized by former Lion Julio Jones

Julio Jones gave back to his hometown of Foley Monday afternoon with the inaugural Thanksgiving Giveback where there were games, amusement rides, free food and a turkey giveaway for local families at the Foley Sports Complex.

The former wide receiver for the Foley Lions and Alabama Crimson Tide partnered with the Squad app to help bring a truckload of turkeys to distribute while family fun was had between the jump houses, face painting and rides.

While Jones himself wasn’t at the event, his brother Phillip was on hand and said he hoped to turn this first-ever event into a yearly tradition. It was the second Thanksgiving Giveback hosted in the same week after the group was in New York just two days prior.

Jones graduated from Foley High School in 2008 as Alabama’s Mr. Football and an All-American before he set Crimson Tide records for receiving yards in a single game as well as receptions and receiving yards in a season.

Over the summer, Jones signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for his 12th year in the league and recently caught the NFL’s first touchdown in Germany.
