The Mobile Airport Authority (MAA) will temporarily close a portion of Perimeter Road at Mobile International Airport (BFM) on Tuesday, Feb. 24, to allow crews to install underground utilities supporting construction of a new aircraft hangar.
The closure will affect Perimeter Road north of Old Military Road/Gatokoco Drive. Work is expected to last approximately 12 hours; however, the roadway will be posted as closed for up to 24 hours to account for potential delays, according to Devon Sellers Calametti, director of marketing and communications at MAA. Through-traffic is anticipated to resume Wednesday, Feb. 25.
During construction, employees, customers and truck operators accessing nearby businesses may experience limited access. Drivers attempting to reach Dauphin Island Parkway or Interstate 10 via DIP should use alternate routes.
