Ruth Jeffcott Teikari, 88, a native of Green Bay, Wis., and a resident of Fairhope for over 80 years, died Saturday, April 18, 2009 at a local health care facility.
She was an active member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church for many years. In her younger years, she sang in the church choir and was active in other church organizations.
She was an avid reader and served as a library assistant at the Fairhope Public Library from 1946-1956. She and her husband made Fairhope their homestead and cherished their many friends in the community.
Following his retirement, they enjoyed traveling and visiting family in Green Bay and in his native land of Norway.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Jacob Teikari.
Survivors include a nephew, Robert Jeffcott of Toronto, Canada; niece, Katherine Jeffcott (Dale) Gunville of Green Bay, Wis.; grand niece, Sheri (Mark) Paque and their children, Alex and Aden; grand nephew, Chris (Jamie) Gunville and their children, Kira, Andrew and Grace; and grand nephew, Matt (Robin) Gunville and their children, Ryan, Madison and Taylor.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 22 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
