A 6-year-old girl and her mother suffered burns Sunday, Feb. 18.
Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Claremont Drive, an unincorporated area of Foley, to investigate a domestic incident. Deputies located the 6-year-old girl and her mother at a neighbor’s house across the street from their home. Both had suffered burns and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The initial investigation revealed that a 17-year-old male, who lived at the home with the victims, is accused of intentionally pushing the 6-year-old into the fire, causing her injuries. Her mother sustained burns while rescuing her daughter from the flames.
In a statement, the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office said it is unclear what led to the incident. Investigators are actively following leads to determine exactly what occurred.
The 17-year-old male has been arrested on attempted murder and assault in the second-degree charges. The investigation is in its early stages and is ongoing. The suspect is in custody and there are no other threats in that area.
