Teams from Baldwin advance to state bowling tournament

SPANISH FORT — Five teams from Baldwin County advanced to the 2022 Alabama High School Athletic Association State Bowling Championship qualifying in South Regional tournaments held over the weekend at Eastern Shore Lanes in Spanish Fort.
The Elberta Warriors topped John Carroll Catholic to claim the 1-5A Boys' South Regional championship, while the Baldwin County High Tigers beat Thompson to claim the 6-7A Boys' South Regional Championship.
After coming into the 6-7A regional as the top seed, the Spanish Fort Toros also advanced to the boys' regional, falling to Thompson in the semi-finals.
In the girls' regionals, the Bayshore Christian Lady Eagles advanced to the state championship finishing as runner-up to Beauregard in the 1-5A South Regional.
The Gulf Shores Lady Dolphins advanced to the semi-finals in the 6-7A South Regional Tournament to qualify for state.

The top four teams in each region advance to the state championships, which will be held this weekend at the Alley Bowling Center in Gadsden.
1-5A South Region
Beauregard was able to come back from a 2-1 deficit Friday, topping Bayshore Christian 4-2 by a final score of 737-664.
Bayshore topped Marbury 4-1 with a total score of 692-689. Beauregard topped Ramsay 4-0 with a total score of 520-359. All four teams advanced to state competition.
Bayshore team members are Abigail Doremus, Mary Fuller Hauge, Ellison Pulliam, Sarah Jones, Megan Garrick, Nicole Busby, Leah Werneth and Rebecca Demian.
Orange Beach also competed in the tournament. Team members are Raeleigh Bossel, Sadie Rose, Isabel Waters, Leyni Young, Molly Reese, Cate Courtney, Rylie Erwin and Haylee Pressly.
Corner, East Limestone, Etoway and American Christian advanced from the North Regional held at the Shindig Family Entertainment Center in Tuscaloosa.
Corner won the region with a 4-2 victory over East Limestone with a total score of 808-761. Corner -topped Etoway 4-0 with a total score of 510-373 in the semi-finals while East Limstone advanced with a 4-3 win over American Christian.
Elberta's boys' team advanced along with Satsuma, Marbury and John Carroll Catholic.
Elberta won the regional tournament with a 4-1 victory over Satsuma with a final score of 861-764. The Warriors topped John Carroll Catholic 4-1 in the semi-finals with a final score of 827-677. Satsuma advanced to the finals with a 4-0 win over Marbury with a total score of 1,007-942.
Elberta team members are Nate Focht, Jaxson Gaither, Arron Standridge, Noah Bishop, Brodie Barnes, Michael Pope, Daniel Nelson and Chris Stokes.
Etowa, American Christian, West Point and East Limestone all advanced from the North with Etowah topping American Christian 4-2 in the championship with an overall score of 1,041-997. Etowah advance to the finals with a 4-2 victory over East Limistone with an overall score of 1,022-982, while American Christian topped West Point 4-2 with an overall score of 1,048-1,002.
6-7A South Regional
Baldwin County won its first boys' region title in Class 6-7A with a 4-1 win over Thompson in the finals Friday with a total score of 893-731.
Team members are Maurice Williams, Noah Barnett, Aaron Nobles, Andrew Ellis, Eric Klopf, Carter Hall and Austin Viborg.
Spanish Fort advanced after falling to Thompson 4-0 in the semi-finals with a total score of 718-641. Baldwin County advanced by a single pin over Hoover, 1,158-1,157 in a 4-2 victory.
Toros' team members are Brendan Baker, Ty Bennett, Daniel Bolin, Grady Taylor, Anthony Passerelli, Braylan Jarrell and Weslan Payne.
The Gulf Shores Lady Dolphins advanced with a 4-3 win in the quarterfinals over Dothan with a total score of 1,007-992 to advance to the semi-finals where they fell to Stanhope Elmore 4-0 with a total score of 744-521.
Team members are Olivia Lawrence, Elizabeth Jennings, Olivia Edmonds, Emma White, Siya Patel, Amelia Richardson, Kayleigh Davis and Sachi Pate.
Stanhope Elmore claimed the south region championship with a 4-1 victory over Thompson with a total score of 864-806. Thompson advanced to the finals with a 4-1 victory over Baker in the semi-finals by a total score of 821-726.
Sparkman, Vestavia Hills, Spain Park and Southside-Gadsden advanced to the state tournament from the North Regional.
Sparkman won the 6-7A North Region championship with a 4-1 victory over Vestavia Hills with a total score of 926-686. Sparkman defeated Spain Park 4-0 in the semi-finals 700-554; Vestavia Hills edged out Southside-Gadsden 4-3 for a total score of 1,029-957.
Vestavia Hills edged Spain Park 4-3 with a total score of 1,409-1,395 to win the 6-7A boys' north regional. Hewitt-Trussville and Sparkman also advance.
