FOLEY, Ala. — A Mobile woman is facing numerous charges in connection with the alleged theft of $4,867 in merchandise from five Tanger Outlet stores.
Aundrea Nicole Gray, 34, of Dunaway Drive was arrested Nov. 27 after she fled from Foley police in a vehicle that eventually struck another vehicle at the intersection of Riviera Boulevard and South McKenzie Street, according to Lt. David White, commander of the Criminal Investigations Division at Foley Police Department.
At approximately 4 p.m. the day after Thanksgiving, Foley police were contacted about a woman shoplifter at Tanger Outlet, White said this week. When police arrived at the scene, they waited for the woman to get into her vehicle before attempting an arrest.
When officers attempted to stop the woman, she refused to stop, White said. The woman drove to the rear of the outlet mall and made her way to Riviera Boulevard. At the intersection of Riviera Boulevard and South McKenzie Street, near the Sonic restaurant, White said the woman “T-boned” another vehicle.
At that point, White said the woman fled on foot and was apprehended at the KFC restaurant nearby. No one was hurt when the vehicles collided, White said.
As White put it, the woman had a “bunch of clothes” on the seat of her vehicle “with tags and everything else on them.” The merchandise was allegedly taken from the Polo, Aeropostale, American Eagle, Old Navy and Gap stores at the mall.
Gray had outstanding warrants from Escambia County, Fla., including a charge of larceny, White said. He noted that the charges gave evidence that Gray had shoplifted before.
Gray was charged with resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless endangerment, first-degree receiving stolen property and second-degree marijuana possession. Officers found marijuana in Gray’s purse, White said.
Gray remained in the Baldwin County Corrections Center as of Tuesday morning with a total bond of $15,000 on all charges, including nine misdemeanor traffic charges.
