Tacky Jacks is reviving its popular waterfront tasting series this winter in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, offering guided beer and wine events built around small bites, shoreline views and an easygoing pace.
The lineup features returning wine tastings led by Winston McQuitery of Alabama Crown Distributing, designed to make wine enjoyable and approachable for beginners and seasoned enthusiasts according to a news release. Guests sample curated selections paired with food while learning about flavor profiles and regions.
New this season is Tacky Jacks’ first guided craft beer tasting in partnership with Big Beach Brewing. The event includes insights and stories from the brew master, with an emphasis on local beers and the inspirations behind them.
Each tasting includes four beer or wine selections paired with four small bites. Menus change monthly, and hosts walk guests through each pour in a beginner-friendly format aimed at boosting confidence and helping participants discover new favorites.
Events take place at both the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach locations. Seating is limited and reservations are required. The cost is $40 per person with a $5 reservation deposit to hold each seat. The deposit is applied to the final bill at checkout. Refunds are available with at least 24 hours’ notice. All attendees must be 21 or older.
Tastings are scheduled for the following dates:
Tacky Jacks Gulf Shores (240 E 24th Ave., Gulf Shores)
• Jan. 15, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. - Big Beach Brewing Craft Beer
• Jan. 29, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. - Wines of Southern Italy
• Feb. 12, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. - Wines of Australia & New Zealand
Tacky Jacks Orange Beach (27206 Safe Harbor Dr., Orange Beach)
• Jan. 20, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. - Wines of Southern Italy
• Feb. 6, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. - Wines of Australia & New Zealand
• March 3, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. - Wines from the Loire Valley
Each event follows the same guided format while presenting different pairings and pours.
Tastings are held indoors or outdoors along the waterfront, depending on weather. Early reservations are recommended as limited seating makes last-minute group accommodations difficult. Guests are encouraged to arrive ahead of start time so the first pour begins as scheduled.
“We want our guests to feel comfortable, relaxed and inspired,” said Susan Sizemore with Tacky Jacks in the release. “These tastings are all about learning in a fun, approachable way — and we’re especially excited to host our first beer tasting at our Gulf Shores location in collaboration with Big Beach Brewing. It’s a great way to celebrate local flavors while enjoying delicious food, great drinks and unbeatable waterfront views.”
