Tacky Jacks invites community to give veterans a Gulf Coast getaway

Posted

For three veterans, a weekend on Alabama’s Gulf Coast could be a chance to put everyday responsibilities aside and simply enjoy some time in the sun.

Tacky Jacks is inviting community members to nominate veterans for its Veterans Red, White & Beach Getaway, a special program celebrating America’s 250th anniversary while recognizing men and women who have served in the military.

Three veterans will be selected to receive Gulf Shores and Orange Beach getaways valued at approximately $1,500 each.

“Celebrating 250 years of freedom is also an opportunity to recognize the veterans who have sacrificed to protect that freedom,” said Marketing Director for Tacky Jacks Tara McMeans in a news release. “Throughout the year, we support several military and first responder initiatives, and this is one more way for us to partner with our community and give back to those who have served.”

The getaways are designed to offer recipients a full Gulf Coast experience, with accommodations, dining, outdoor activities and other local attractions included.

Each veteran will receive a two-night stay at a beachfront Orange Beach property courtesy of Innisfree Hotels. Accommodations will be provided at Best Western Premier: The Tides, Hilton Garden Inn Orange Beach, Hampton Inn & Suites Orange Beach or Holiday Inn Express Orange Beach. Blackout dates apply.

The packages also include a $100 Tacky Jacks gift certificate and Tacky Jacks swag, along with a $250 Visa gift card to help cover travel expenses.

For those looking to get out on the water, each veteran and a guest will receive a Top Tier Watersports parasail or dolphin cruise adventure, subject to seasonal availability. The package also includes a $100 Fort Morgan Marina gift card and a $25 Pelican Scoops Ice Cream gift certificate.

Recipients will also receive an Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo family pass and additional prizes from participating partners.

Community members can nominate a veteran by sharing a little about the veteran and explaining why they deserve some time away for fun and relaxation. Nominations are being accepted at www.tackyjacks.com/veteransfund.

The three veterans selected for the getaway will be announced on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2026, through Tacky Jacks’ social media pages.

The program brings together local businesses and hospitality partners to recognize veterans while giving recipients an opportunity to experience some of what makes the Alabama Gulf Coast a destination for visitors.

Tacky Jacks has served locals and visitors along the Alabama Gulf Coast for more than four decades. With waterfront locations in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Fort Morgan, the restaurant is known for coastal favorites, World Famous Bushwackers, waterfront views and a laid-back atmosphere.
