DAPHNE, Alabama -Thirty-one swimmers from the Southern Waters Aquatic Team (SWAT) recently competed at GPAC's Spring Fling Meet held at the University of West Florida.
SWAT placed second overall among teams from across the southeast. SWAT swimmers posted eighty-seven personal best times, and achieved twenty-six first place finishes.
First place swims from SWAT were achieved by Jack Adamski, Annabelle Algiers, and Ansley Hardyman (Daphne); Anna Bailey, Ross Hudson, Hannah Legg, Jacob Newsome, Kevin Pollard, and Ramsey Shane (Fairhope); Ben Morseth (Jackson); Emily Beaver, Trista Phelps and Tyler Phelps (Loxley); and Stephen Jellenc (Montrose).
SWAT had three high point winners. Annabelle Algiers won the 11-12 girls division, Trista Phelps won the 15 and over girls division, and Kevin Pollard won the 15 and over boys division.
Additionally, eleven new Southeastern Championship qualifying times were attained by Abby Bailey (100 Back, 50 Breast, 100 Free, 50 Back, 100 Breast, 50 Free), Ally Bailey (50 Fly, 100 Back), Rylan Jurgens (100 Free), and Jacob Newsome (100 Back, 50 Back). SWAT will next compete at the University of New Orleans in the NuWave Invitational June 1-3.
SWAT is a USA Swimming year round program operated by the Eastern Shore Parents Aquatics Foundation, Inc. (ESPAF). ESPAF, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, welcomes inquiries about swim-related programs offered at the Eastern Shore Aquatics Center located at 10580 County Rd. 64 in Daphne.
