The Gulf Coast’s largest model railroad event of the fall season is set for Oct. 5 and 6 at the Via Center, 1717 Dauphin St., Mobile. The centerpiece of the show will be operating trains on the large O-scale modular layout of Southwest Alabama Railroad Modelers (SWARM), the host club.
The Pensacola Model Railroad Club N scale division will truck in an elaborate N-scale modular layout. The Floridians are also bringing an operating layout in astonishingly tiny Z-scale.
Other attractions will include a G scale layout running on the floor, an On30 operating layout by SWARM members, and an array of railroad-related goods marketed by specialized vendors.
The public is invited to the event; admission is $2 for adults and older children while accompanied children 10 and under will be admitted free. The hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. Entrance to the train show will be through the doors by the parking lot in the rear of the building.
