A protester in Summerdale has the town council scratching its head.
Mayor David Wilson brought up during the Tuesday evening meeting that an individual who has been protesting in Summerdale. Wilson and the town’s lawyer looked into the ordinance Summerdale has on the books regarding protesting and signage, but Wilson said the language of the ordinance is extremely vague and could be taken many ways. He suggested the council look into this ordinance as well to consider reworking it into a better ordinance.
In other business:
The purchase of mower blades and other supplies the public works department needs was approved by the council. The supplies will be purchased during a once a year sale from a local supplier.
Wilson also brought up two issues where he feels the current ordinances the town has in place may be lacking. The first issue he brought up deals with companies coming in and doing construction work in the town. He pointed out a situation where an outside company had come in and created a huge hole near a major roadway, but the hole was not clearly marked, which he considered a safety hazard. He asked the town’s lawyer to look into neighboring municipalities to see what ordinances were in place there.
The town council voted to move its February council meeting to Feb. 15 so the meeting will not interfere with Valentine’s Day.
