Summer sports camps are just around the corner

FAIRHOPE, Alabama - As the school year comes to a close the summer sports camp season will begin to heat up around Baldwin County.

FAIRHOPE BASEBALL CAMP: Fairhope High Pirate head coach Stu Fuller and his staff will direct two Hitting and Fielding Fundamentals Camps for players ages 5-12 and two Pitching Fundamentals Camps for players ages 7-12. Costs for the hitting and fielding sessions are $100 each and $75 for each pitching session. There is a discount for families with multiple players in the same session.

The first hitting and fielding fundamentals camp (Session I) will run June 3-6 from 9:00 a.m.-noon and the first pitching fundamentals camp (Session III) the same days from 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

Session II (Hitting and Fielding) and Session IV (Pitching) will be held at the same hours the following week from June 10-13.

The camps cover video taped hitting instruction, fielding, base running and also feature squad games. The pitching sessions cover pitching instruction from stretch and wind-up with video taped review, stance, blocking and throwing, holding runners and position fielding. NORTH BALDWIN BASEBALL SCHOOL: The North Baldwin Baseball school, provided by the coaches and staff from the Baldwin County High School baseball program, is June 3-6 from 9:30 a.m. until noon at Halliday Park in Bay Minette.

The camp is for students who have completed grades 1-6 and costs $50. The camp will focus on baseball fundamentals like hitting, fielding, bunting, base running, defense and throwing mechanics.

Registration is at 8:45 a.m. on June 3. Proof of insurance and a completed waiver is required for participation. Make checks payable to North Baldwin Baseball School.

BMAC SWIM SCHOOL: BMAC Swim School will offer summer swim lessons at several Baldwin County pool locations. Sessions include: Session 1, May 28-31 and June 3-6; Session 2, June 10-13 and 17-20; Session 3: June 24-28 and July 1-3; Session 4, July 8-11 and 15-18; Session 5, July 22-25 and July 29-Aug. 1. BAYSIDE ACADEMY SOCCER CAMP: The Bayside Academy Summer Soccer Camp is from 9 a.m. to noon June 3-7 at Bayside Academy Freedom Track & Field in Daphne. The camp costs $150, with walk-ups welcome. Age groups include: 4-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10-12 and 13-14. Contact coach Jamie Ferguson at 251-391-9388 or 251-338-6407 for information.

FOLEY HIGH BASKETBALL CAMP: Foley High School boys basketball coach Shumbe Hunter will host the Foley Summer Youth Basketball Camp June 10-13 at the Foley High gymnasium.

The Foley Summer Youth Basketball Camp is designed to increase the individual player ability to play the game of basketball through teaching and practicing fundamental skills. Athletes attending this camp will receive daily instruction with focus on ball handling, passing, shooting, and rebounding. In addition to the offensive skills, campers will receive one-on-one defensive skills as well as team concepts.

The camp is open to ages 5-13. Camp will be held in the Foley High School Gymnasium June 10-13 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Cost per camper is $50.

Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt and daily refreshments. There will also be extra apparel that can be purchased.

SUMMER SHOOTOUT JR. BASKETBALL CAMP: The Summer Shootout Jr. Basketball Clinic is for K-8th graders at Fairhope High School from June 17-20 from 9 a.m. until noon. The camp costs $85 through June 1 and $100 after June 1. The cost includes instruction for all levels including shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, and defensive skills, plus a camp t-shirt. Camp Director is Robby Robertson. Coach Robertson has over 20 years of coaching experience at the high school, junior college and Division I levels.

SPANISH FORT BASKETBALL CAMP OF CHAMPIONS: The Spanish Fort High School boys basketball program will be hosting its Camp of Champions on June 26-27 from 3-5 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. The cost is only $25 and includes 1st – 6th graders. Coach Dru Powell and his staff will be conducting the camp and will cover some of the basics of the game, including defense, ball handling, passing, and shooting. The Toros have won 48 games over the past two years and would love to have you attend this camp. No pre-registration required. 

POINT CLEAR TENNIS CAMP: The Point Clear Tennis and Swim Club hosts it’s tennis camps this summer for grades K-12, beginner and intermediate levels. Campers will be divided by age and ability level for tennis instruction beginning the first week of June and ending the first week of August. The camps begin at 9 a.m., Mon.-Thurs. Lunch each day is included, followed by swimming until 1 p.m. Tuition is $150/wk for first child and $125/wk for siblings.
