Summerdale council held a public hearing to hear citizen’s concerns about proposed sidewalks to be funded by a “Safe Routes to School Grant.” There was only one concerned citizen present for the public hearing, but he came armed with an arsenal of questions for the engineers who are planning the project. His questions included the proposed width of the sidewalks, whether trees would be demolished to make way for the sidewalks and where the sidewalks would actually go.
The town displayed a map of where the sidewalks are planned. The town announced the sidewalks would be five feet wide in most areas and the planned route will require removal of as few trees as possible. The town has already identified problem areas and spoken to the property owners before making plans to come up with a route everyone could live with.
