Evelyn Blue Sullivan, born Feb. 4, 1925, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008.
She was a retired elementary school teacher having taught in Ft. Deposit, Greenville, Hayneville and for many years at Elizabeth Fonde Elementary School in Mobile.
She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Hononary Society and in 1982 was selected as one of Mobile’s Outstadnding Teachers. She was recognized for exceptional service in the field of education. She retired in 1987.
She was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Foley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Lanier Sullivan; daughter, Joyce Renee Sullivan; her parents, William and Mamie Blue; and a brother, Edwin K. Blue.
Survivors include a son, R. Lanier (Shelly) Sullivan of Daphne; sister, Jacqueline Blue (Ralph) Harper of Titus; two grandsons, Raymond Lanier “Trey” (Chesley) Sullivan of Clinton, Miss., and Matthew Jamison MacKenzie Sullivan of Daphne; two step-grandchildren, Sarah Jane Reynolds of Daphne and John Gay of Waynesboro, Ga.; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family would like to give a special recognition to Dr. McAtee and the nursing staff who so tirelessly attended to her during her recent illness.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 2 at Pine Rest Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 3 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Foley. Interment will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park.
