Students, employees recognized as WaveMakers of the Month during GSCS February meetings

GULF SHORES — A new award will now be handed out during Gulf Shores City Schools' board meetings. February saw the very first WaveMakers recognized from all three Gulf Shores district schools. Going forward, each month will see one student and one employee from each of the three schools recognized as the "WaveMakers of the Month."
The awards were created to recognize students and employees who are "making waves" at their schools and within the community by displaying leadership, stepping out of their comfort zones and spreading positivity and assistance.
The first student recipients of the award are Kinlee Wright (elementary school), Price Stephens (middle school) and Violet Adams (high school). The first employees to receive the award are Zach Beard (elementary school), Marcella Miles (middle school) and Ellyson Lawrence (high school).
Each school's faculty and staff have the opportunity to nominate different WaveMakers they've seen in their schools. After nominations are received, the school principals will review them and choose the recipients for the month.
The WaveMakers of the Month can be found on www.gsboe.org, along with details of why they were nominated.
