Mattie Stokes, 85, a native and resident of Stapleton, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010.
She was a long time member of the Stapleton Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward E. Stokes and grandson, Quinton Stokes.
Survivors include a daughter, Sheila Ann Stokes of Stapleton; sons, Edward (Anna) Stokes of Mobile and Melvin (Cathy) Stokes of Stapleton; sister, Annie Stokes of Stapleton; one grandchild, Nicole Stokes White; and two great-grandsons, Monet and James.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 27 at Mack Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 28 at Stapleton Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Lawhorn and the Rev. George Underwood officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Stapleton.
