Odis Lee Stivener, died April 9, 2008 at Baptist Hospital.
He suffered with lung cancer for the last few months of his life. He was born Aug. 17, 1936 in Hamilton to Argus Lee Stivener and Letha Mae Pugh Stivener.
He went to Detroit in 1963 where he worked for 36 years in the grocery industry. He worked for Chatham Grocery and owned his own grocery store. He returned to the Baldwin-Mobile County area in 1989 and worked for the Jr. Food Store chain, Buffalo Rock and Lance Inc.
He was preceded in death by his parents Argus L. and Letha M. Stivener and two sisters, Otis Faye Stivener Harp of Illinois and Gladys Mae Stivener Englehart of Robertsdale.
Survivors include a son Jerry Wayne (Kim) Stivener of Robertsdale; daughter, Melinda Gail Stivener Atkins of Ann Arbor, Mich.; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Ema Jean Stivener Rye of Foley, Brenda Gale Stivener Harris of Bay Minette and Bervie Mae Stivener Peoples of Hamilton.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12 at Silverhill Cemetery.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the St. Jude’s Hospital.
