Emma Havranek Stejskal, 87, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at a local nursing facility.
She was born on Feb. 27, 1920 in Lake Andes, S.D., to Emil and Anna Havranek. She moved to Fairhope in 1923 and was a 1937 graduate of Fairhope High School.
On Sept.17, 1940 she married the love of her life, George Stejskal. They were married over 61 years before his death on June 1, 2002. She was a flower gardener, avid bird enthusiast, homemaker, business partner, devoted and loving wife, and a patient and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy and accomplishment was her family.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Anna Havranek, her brother, Edward Havranek, and sister-in-law Annie Havranek.
Survivors include daughter Linda (Floyd) Stevens of Tupelo, Miss., two sons Leslie (Connie) Stejskal and Larry (Betty) Stejskal of Fairhope; 10 grandchildren, Christopher Stephens of Tupelo, Miss., Brian (Christina) Stevens and Emily Stevens of Houston, Laura (Roman) Figurilli of Alpharetta, Ga., Leigh (Michael) Rogers, Lacey Stejskal, and Linde Stejskal of Fairhope, Mark (Kris) Stejskal of Fairhope, David (Mindy) Stejskal of Montgomery, Scott (Holley) Stejskal of Knoxville, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren Blaine Stejskal and Sarah Claire Stejskal of Fairhope, Catie Beth Stejskal of Knoxville, Tenn., and Adrianna Figurilli of Alpharetta, Ga.; three sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 12, followed by a Celebration of Life from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope.
Instead of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Fairhope Educational Enrichment Foundation or your favorite charity.
