Construction is set to begin Jan. 6 on intersection improvements at State Route 59 and Hinote Glass Road, a heavily traveled corridor serving Loxley residents and providing access to the new Loxley Elementary School, according to the Baldwin County Commission.
Baldwin County Commission said in a news release that the project will add a turn lane on State Route 59, improve roadway alignment and include drainage upgrades along Hinote Glass Road. County officials said the work is designed to increase traffic capacity and improve safety at the intersection as the area continues to grow.
The improvements are part of the Baldwin County Commission’s broader effort to strengthen transportation infrastructure across the county. Construction is expected to be completed by summer 2026.
“We are pleased to move forward with this project that supports our commitment to providing safe and efficient roadways throughout Baldwin County,” said District 3 Commissioner Billie Jo Underwood in the release.
Construction updates will be shared as work progresses, the Baldwin County Commission said.
