SPANISH FORT—Blakeley State Park has rescheduled for Feb. 25 the boat tour of the Alabama State Docks and other Delta sites after severe thunderstorm warnings forced postponement of the eco-tour set for earlier this week.
Because of the re-scheduling, a few tickets remain available for the Wednesday, three-hour narrated tour that includes the site of the disastrous Amtrak wreck at Bayou Canot and the area in the river where the Clotilde, America’s last slave ship, is believed to have been sunk.
The state docks and Mobile’s busy port and shipbuilding and repair docks will be part of the tour aboard the Delta Explorer, the park’s 50-passenger covered pontoon boat with restroom.
The tour leaves Blakeley Park at 10 a.m. and returns about 1 p.m.
Cost of the special tour is $30 for adults, $15 for children. For reservations call 626-5581.
Blakeley Park is located on state Highway 225 about 4.5 miles north of Spanish Fort where 225 intersects with U.S. 31.
Charter trips are available by calling 626-0798.
