Chandler Kite “Chan” Stanard, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008 in a Mobile hospital.
He was born Feb. 26, 1946 in Mobile, the son of Ralph Stanard and Nancy Stanard Lott.
He was a native of Mobile and a longtime resident of Spanish Fort. He graduated from Murphy High School and also graduated from the University of Alabama, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta men’s fraternity. He then attended the University of Alabama law school and graduated near the top of his class.
He enjoyed a good time and loved hunting, fishing, boating, being with friends and relaxing with family. He had a wonderful zest for life, a quick wit and wicked sense of humor. According to Chan, “I lived a great life.”
He faced the conclusion of his battles with illness with a perseverance and courage that were awe-inspiring. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, colleagues, clients, courtroom adversaries and others who admired his accomplishments, dedication, spirit and love of life.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to his many caregivers and friends for their loving care and devotion.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Stanard, his mother Nancy Stanard Lott, and his step-father, Wade Lott.
Survivors include two sons, John Chandler (Sandi) Stanard and Conner Chandler Stanard; brother, George T. (Lorna) Stanard; two sisters Claire W. Stanard and Beverly S. (Marc) Bradley; neices and nephews, Wright Sigmund, Wade Bradley, Stanard Bradley, Michelle Stanard, Anne Stanard and Nancy Bradley.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Nov. 5 at Pine Crest Funeral Home. Graveside services followed at Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 E. 33rd St., New York, NY 10016, or to the charity of your choice.
