Baldwin County will be spraying for adult mosquitoes in the incorporated areas of Baldwin County based on need and public health concern between the evening hours of 6 to 9 p.m. Spraying could begin as early as May 1.
The mosquito control chemicals to be used are Aqua-Reslin and Scourge, which are approved by the Environmental Protection Agency for mosquito control.
Honeybee keepers are encouraged to cover their hives during spray operations as a precaution.
Persons with chemical sensitivities are urged to contact the Baldwin County Health Department at (251) 972-6834 as soon as possible for more information and to avoid the spray unit while spraying operations are under way.
To ensure effective spraying, weather conditions must be favorable.
Trucks used for these operations dispense low volumes of aerosol insecticides and are equipped with a calibrated system that sprays the correct amount of insecticide for the speed of the vehicle.
