DAPHNE, Ala.—Dr. Fred Cromartie, who chairs the sports management department and directs doctoral study at the United States Sports Academy, will travel to the Kingdom of Bahrain to teach a weeklong course in sports administration March 8–12. The course is the first module of the Academy’s six-course International Certification in Sports Management program. The Academy is presenting the certification program in conjunction with Bahrain’s General Organization of Youth and Sports—GOYS.

In its 35-year history, the academy has delivered sports education programs in more than 60 countries around the world. It has a long-standing relationship with GOYS, which plays a vital role in the development of sports in Bahrain.

Cromartie received a B.A. degree from Ripon (Wis.) College and an M.A. degree in human resource development from Webster University, headquartered near St. Louis. He earned his Ed.D. and a second degree at the Academy, where he teaches undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students.

He has served the Academy at different times as assistant dean for undergraduate studies; chair of sports studies, of sports coaching, of sports medicine, and of health and fitness management; executive director of alumni relations; and a director on the Alumni Association Board. He is also a former director of student services, director of continuing education, Academy Distance Learning Faculty member, admissions counselor and graduate assistant. His background includes being a competitive athlete, a coach, and an official.
