DAPHNE—Bayside Academy senior Spencer Newman scored the 2,000th point of his career Monday as the Admirals defeated Satsuma High 57-20. Newman needed 22 points to reach the milestone and did so with a 3-point shot in the third quarter.
He was then presented the 2,000-point ball by Bayside head coach Ralph Watson on the Admirals home court. Newman is the all-time career-scoring leader in school history, Watson said.
Newman finished with the game-high 22 points while teammates Seth Matthews added 17 points and Sam Koby 11 for the Admirals, who improved to 14-6 overall. The Gators were led by L. McDonald with 12 points. Bayside is 2-0 in Class 3A Area 1 and travels to play Excel on Friday.
