Spanish Fort woman sentenced on federal drug charges

MOBILE – A Spanish Fort woman was sentenced to more than four years in prison after pleading guilty on federal drug charges, a statement from U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello said.

Brittany Chitara Jackson, 34, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Mobile to 54 months in prison followed by five years of supervised probation. She pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine in the Bay Minette and Daphne areas, the statement said.

According to the documents filed in connection with her guilty plea, Jackson and her codefendants sold cocaine and crack cocaine from her residence on U.S. 31. Confidential informants made undercover purchases of drugs at the residence.

Investigators searched Jackson’s home and other locations identified during the investigation. United States District Court Judge Terry F. Moorer imposed the sentence and ordered Jackson to pay $100 in mandatory special assessments. No fine was imposed.

Moorer also ordered that a gun used by one of the defendants in the crime be forfeited.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, the Baldwin County Drug Task Force, the Safe Streets Task Force and the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case. It was prosecuted in the United States Attorney’s Office by Assistant United States Attorney Gloria Bedwell.
