Spanish Fort could soon allow tattoo facilities.

Spanish Fort City Council will hold a public hearing Monday, Nov. 20, on several resolutions and ordinances including one that would allow tattoo facilities within city limits.

The proposed ordinance amendment outlines that tattoo facilities would be prohibited within 500 feet of:

  • A public or private elementary or secondary school;
  • Daycare, preschool or nursery;
  • Church or other religious facility;
  • Public park or trail system; or
  • Another tattoo facility.

Tattoo facilities would also:

  • be prohibited within 250 feet of a residential area, single-family or multiple-family residential use;
  • only permitted in a business zone; and
  • no more than two tattoo facilities would be permitted within one development or shopping center.

Council did not have any comments regarding the proposed amendment. The Nov. 20 city council meeting is open to the public, and residents are allowed to speak during the public hearing. Those interested in reading more details on the proposed amendment can go to www.cityofspanishfort.com.

City council will also hold public hearings:

  • To amend the zoning ordinance to include additional requirements related to restaurants and businesses with drive-thru facilities;
  • For the selection of Sawgrass Consulting LLC. for land surveying, civil and structural engineering services for the new dog park project; and
  • For the selection of Sawgrass Consulting LLC. for land surveying, civil and structural engineering services related to the development of the Fire Station No. 4 master plan.
