Spanish Fort student Godwin joins Baldwin County Sheriff’s SWAT Team for a day

SFEEF, BCSO team up to provide hands-on experiences and demonstrations during SWAT In-Service Week

Posted

Monday, June 5, one local boy had the opportunity to participate in an experience of a lifetime with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, during SWAT In-Service Week.

Hayes Godwin was the lucky winner of the "SWAT For A Day" experience during a recent Spanish Fort Education Enrichment Foundation (SFEEF) fundraising event.

As an honorary SWAT team member, Godwin was introduced to life-saving equipment and protocols, participated in hands-on training and demonstrations and enjoyed lunch courtesy of Sheriff Huey Hoss Mack. The experience helped provide valuable information and unique insight into SWAT and other divisions within the Sheriff's Office.

Godwin had the opportunity to observe SWAT In-Service discussion and planning, ride in the Lenco Bearcat, fly a drone, detonate explosives used for door breaching, safely handle and fire various weapons, learn about important equipment, see a K9 in action and so much more.
