SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Spanish Fort Middle School will host its first Father-Daughter Sweetheart Dance Feb. 11, but space will be limited to the first 400 guests.
SFMS Principal Craig Ross said he has such fond memories of attending similar events while working in Auburn that he’s been itching to begin the tradition here as well. He also noted that “father,” in this particular instance, does not necessarily mean a biological father as “significant father figures” are welcome to attend.
“As a father, you just have such a brief window when your daughters are still your little girls, and this is just meant to be a sweet reminder of how fleeting that time can be,” he said.
Hosted by the Parent Teacher Association, the dance will be held in the SFMS cafeteria from 7 to 9 p.m. at a cost of $15 per couple and $5 per extra child.
Refreshments will be available, music will be provided by a live disc jockey and a professional photographer will be on site to commemorate the event for those interested.
The event is open to all K-8 Spanish Fort daughters, but ticket forms must be returned to respective school offices no later than Jan. 28.
Any student who did not receive a ticket form at school can download and print one from the SFMS website at www.spanishfortmiddle.com or pick one up in any school office.
