Spanish Fort Middle School students seeking candy and plastic eggs for service project

SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Spanish Fort Middle School would never want to be accused of being “egg”stravagant, but several student organizations are asking for a little community assistance.

The SFMS Student Government Association, Junior Library Club and National Junior Honor Society chapter will be filling plastic Easter eggs with candy April 11. In addition to the eggs, themselves, the students require candy that will not only fit inside the eggs but not melt to make the project a success.

Once filled, the eggs will be donated to the Lighthouse in Robertsdale for use during its ninth annual Easter Eggstravaganza from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 22 at Garrett Park. The Lighthouse is a United Way agency committing to providing support, preventing violence and promoting justice for victims of domestic violence.

“I am amazed time and again by how committed to community service and charity so many of our students are. It’s just a very giving group of students, and I’m so proud of the pride they take in supporting their community and lending a hand wherever they can,” said SFMS Principal Craig Ross.
