SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Supporters of Spanish Fort High School’s Relay for Life efforts will have two chances in the coming weeks to lend a hand – or a paintbrush – for the cause.
Paint Slingers in the Eastern Shore Centre will host “Pink Night” at 6 p.m. March 28. The evening of art and appetizers at the do-it-yourself painting studio will cost $40 per person.
The studio and community art center, operated by SFHS art teacher Kelly Denton and Daphne artist Stephanie Carlson Sandefur, will also host “Wine Down” at 6 p.m. April 7, allowing patrons to paint three wine glasses for $35.
Hanya Scheubert of Spanish Fort said she’s already committed to attending the “Wine Down” event because her niece asked her to do it.
“How can you say no to kids who are reaching out for such a wonderful event,” Scheubert said.
Relay for Life, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, was created in 1985 to “celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.”
An estimated 3.5 million people in 5,000 communities participate in the annual event each year in the United States, alone.
