SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Spanish Fort Elementary School students will celebrate their 100th day of school this week through service.

Students have been collecting canned goods for Prodisee Pantry and will make their donations beginning Wednesday.

“The holidays have depleted the pantry, but the needs in our community continue to grow,” said SFES fifth-grade teacher and Student Council sponsor Deborah DeWeese.

The goal is for each classroom on campus to contribute 100 cans, she said.

“The children at our school work closely with the Prodisee Pantry during our Thanksgiving canned-food drive, so they look forward to collecting cans again to help restock the pantry. They enjoy helping the pantry because they know it benefits many families in our community,” DeWeese said.
