Spanish Fort Educational Enrichment Foundation sets Jan. 26 deadline for Teacher/Student grant applications

SPANISH FORT, Ala.—With school funding scarce, local teachers have at least one option to subsidize classroom projects, but only if they do their homework and do so quickly.

The application deadline for the fifth annual Spanish Fort Educational Enrichment Foundation’s Teacher/Student Grants is 4 p.m. Jan. 26.

“This is an excellent opportunity for teachers to acquire education needs that would otherwise be lacking,” said SFEEF Executive Director Sandra Bostrom. The foundation is hopeful the four schools in the Spanish Fort feeder pattern will be competing for their share of more than $20,000 in the program for the second consecutive year.

Judges from outside the Spanish Fort area will pore over the entries, scoring them on educational enrichment value as well as the number of students projected to benefit from the programs among other criteria, Bostrom said.

Applications are available in the front office of each school or can be downloaded from www.sfeef.com.

The grants will be awarded in Feburary, and all funds allocated must be spent no later than May 31.
