The South Baldwin Newcomer’s Club (SBNC) is planning their Annual Charity Fundraiser, “Treasures and More” on April 6 at the Orange Beach Community Center on Canal Road from 11 a.m.-to 2 p.m.
This event will be open to the public this year. It includes a delicious luncheon, a silent auction with “Theme” Baskets and Gift Certificates, a “Local Market” showcasing the talents of local residents, and a raffle drawing with some very special items such as, a 13.8 carat Blue Topaz Gemstone with a $200 Gift Certificate for mounting from Manning Jewelers, a Sony E-Reader, and a Half-Day Coastal Fishing Trip provided by Capt. Doug Harrall.
The cost of the event is $20 per person and reservations are required. Tickets can be purchased at Think Outside at 3947 Gulf Shores Parkway (Magnolia Place) or by calling Sharon Ramirez at 975-1258 or Priscilla McDonough at 980-1604.
Although SBNC is better known for its social component, the members are also concerned about the community in which they live. With close to 300 local and newcomer members, the Club successfully raised $19,000 in 2010, which was distributed to 17 local charities, and three $1,000 student scholarships. This year the Club hopes to do as well or better, despite the economic and environmental difficulties our community has experienced over the past year, because the need is much greater.
