South Baldwin is set to Let the Good Times Roll this weekend with two Mardi Gras parades.

Both parades, each in Foley and Magnolia Springs, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday.

In Magnolia Springs, Le Krewe de Faux Pas will lead a parade down Oak Street. Afterward, refreshments, such as King Cake will be served.

In the Forward City, the Foley Krewe de Kaoz Mardi Gras Parade Group will lead a promenade of at least 26 participants on a two-mile jaunt.

That route will begin at Max Griffin Memorial Park on Pine Street and will proceed to Roosevelt Avenue, Alston Street and back around to the park.

According to parade organizer Paul Adams, the Foley parade will be a family-oriented event.

“We want people to come and have a good time,” he said in a phone interview.

Adams and the Foley Mardi Gras Association took over the Foley tradition last year when its previous presenters opted out.

“We wanted to keep the parade going,” he said of the tradition that spans more than a decade in the Forward City.

This year’s parade is expected to feature trailers, floats, horses, motorcycles and representatives of area businesses.

“We have six new businesses that weren’t in it last year,” Adams said.
