The South Baldwin Community Theatre, a staple of the island for over 50 years, will undergo a renovation project in March to modernize and revamp the beloved playhouse.
Jeremy Sullivan, board member, said he was inspired to lead the project, which will include installing new theater chairs, updated flooring, new carpet, updated lobby decor, artistic displays, gallery wall of past productions, new folding chairs and a neon sign of the theater's website.
According to Sullivan, the Pensacola Little Theatre recently donated their old chairs after receiving a grant, which prompted the project.
"The Pensacola Little Theater got a $5 million grant, and we now have their old theater chairs, which are actually fairly new," Sullivan said. "It started going full speed from there, and I came up with the idea to renovate the lobby because the decor in house is black but the lobby is a little dated and dull."
Sullivan said the theater will be selling $100 seat sponsorships to help fund the project. The donator's name will get engraved on a plaque on either a display or the seat itself.
